I Guess Trump Really Is A Republican

He found a way out of Vietnam, just like Cheney and Limbaugh:

During a TV interview Tuesday morning, Trump--who spent his high school years enrolled at the New York Military Academy--said, “I actually got lucky because I had a very high draft number. I’ll never forget, that was an amazing period of time in my life.”

He went on to recall, “I was going to the Wharton School of Finance, and I was watching as they did the draft numbers and I got a very, very high number and those numbers never got up to.” The word “deferment” was not mentioned by Trump during his chat with the morning show hosts on WNYW, the Fox affiliate in New York City.

However, Selective Service records reveal that Trump, the fortunate son of a multimillionaire real estate baron, took repeated steps to avoid serving in Vietnam.

By the time his number (356) was drawn during the December 1, 1969 draft lottery, Trump had already received four student deferments and a medical deferment, according to military records on file with the National Archives and Records Administration. An extract of Trump’s Selective Classification record, seen here, was provided in response to a TSG records request.

Judge Blocks Parts Of Arizona’s Immigration Law

As the day progresses and people get time to read the decision, I’m sure the spin will really kick into high-RPM mode. For now, here’s the lowdown:

But for now, opponents of the law have prevailed: The provisions that angered opponents will not take effect, including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also delayed parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places — a move aimed at day laborers. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.

In her decision, Judge Susan Bolton writes:

Arizona goes on to state, “[T]he Arizona Legislature could not have intended to compel Arizona’s law enforcement officers to determine and verify the immigration status of every single person arrested – even for United States citizens and when there is absolutely no reason to believe the person is unlawfully present in the country.” (Id.)

Basically Bolton is saying that the law would require the check of citizenship on every person arrested, not just those who “might” be illegals. It doesn’t matter if you just came over the border yesterday, or your great-great-great grandparents did and became citizens. This law has racial profiling in it – period.

And before the right starts their cries of “activist judges” (too late – Limbaugh already is), Bolton was heavily recommended by John Kyl back in 2000:

Limbaugh On Haiti Yesterday

There was so much outrageous crap coming from the right wing extremists yesterday that I totally missed this one:

LIMBAUGH: Would you trust the money's gonna go to Haiti?

CALLER: No.

LIMBAUGH: But would you trust that your name is gonna end up on the mailing list for the Obama people to start asking you for campaign donations for him and other causes?

CALLER: Absolutely.

LIMBAUGH: Absolutely right.

CALLER: That's the point.

LIMBAUGH: Besides, we've already donated to Haiti. It's called the U.S. income tax.

This is the reason the world would have been better off if Limbaugh didn’t walk out of that hospital last month. So many acted like we should have compassion for him when he was down. Well you know what? Fuck him. Those of us, who wouldn’t have minded Limbaugh being fitted with a toe tag, remember the kind of man he is. He proved it again yesterday. He doesn’t give a shit about the lives of others, so why in the world should we care about his?

I’m going to join the right in the outrage over a post that appeared on Huffington Post for a short time yesterday. Allahpundit captured a screen grab of it:

The author, Erik Sean Nelson, decided to poke some fun at Palin while also insulting the mentally retarded. How does the HuffPo handle something like this? They quietly just delete the post. As mater of fact the author gave Bloggasm a less than sound reasoning for it:

No story, I pulled it down. I got some emails from offended loved ones of the retarded. No one was seeing the absurdity of Palin hiding behind her children, so my piece was not accomplishing anything good. That’s all that happened.

Not only should Nelson’s account on HuffPo be deleted, but the editors of the site should also post a very heart-felt apology. This is absolutely appalling and if I was Arianna I would be fuming. Right now Nelson has put HuffPo in the same category as Limbaugh and FOX News, but a strong response from the site editors can quickly right that wrong. Time is ticking boys!

Talk about stating the obvious. The biggest conspiracy theory he was into was the entire “Obama is going to take away our guns” meme that people like Beck, Malkin, Limbaugh and the rest of the right wing loons have been pushing.

Here’s an interesting thought. For years the left has been chastised over the 9/11 conspiracy theorists. While a vast majority of us don’t believe them, I am now sitting here wondering how many cops these people have killed.

Dying For Rush

David Frum has a piece in the latest Newsweek eviscerating Limbaugh and his cronies.

It wasn't a fight I went looking for. On March 3, the popular radio host Mark Levin opened his show with an outburst (he always opens his show with an outburst): "There are people who have somehow claimed the conservative mantle … You don't even know who they are … They're so irrelevant … It's time to name names …! The Canadian David Frum: where did this a-hole come from? … In the foxhole with other conservatives, you know what this jerk does? He keeps shooting us in the back … Hey, Frum: you're a putz."

Now, of course, Mark Levin knows perfectly well where I come from. We've known each other for years, had dinner together. I'm a conservative Republican, have been all my adult life. I volunteered for the Reagan campaign in 1980. I've attended every Republican convention since 1988. I was president of the Federalist Society chapter at my law school, worked on the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal and wrote speeches for President Bush—not the "Read My Lips" Bush, the "Axis of Evil" Bush. I served on the Giuliani campaign in 2008 and voted for John McCain in November. I supported the Iraq War and (although I feel kind of silly about it in retrospect) the impeachment of Bill Clinton. I could go on, but you get the idea.

This is the very problem the GOP faces. If you disagree with one person, you are not an outcast. The bad part is that the GOP doesn’t realize that they are also getting used by Limbaugh. His ratings are up, and at what cost? The cost of the GOP it looks like.

What Kind Of Poll Is This?

One thing about Rasmussen – they never cease to amaze:

Edward C. Johnson III, chairman of Fidelity Investments, said recently of government efforts to jump-start the economy, “We can only hope that the government’s cure doesn’t further sicken the patient.”

Sixty-five percent (65%) of U.S. voters agree with Johnson in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Fifteen percent (15%) disagree, and 20% are not sure if he’s right or not.

Um only 65% hope that the economy doesn’t get worse from the efforts by our government? I guess that means we have about 15% of the respondents taking cues from Limbaugh in hoping Obama fails, and 20% who aren’t sure if they are with Limbaugh or not.

Blind Following

The number two vote getter for the straw poll at CPAC, Bobby Jindal, clarifies the rules of Republicans to Larry King last night:

King: One more thing. It may be moot now, but RNC Chairman Michael Steele took some shots at Limbaugh and then apologized. What do you make of all of that?

Jindal: Well, I didn't follow the day's events. I'm glad he apologized.

So Jindal doesn’t know what all the commotion was about, but he knew Limbaugh must be right? Wow this takes the cake. They have given carte blanche to a man who makes fun of Parkinson's disease, uses racial innuendos to discuss our President, called Hillary Clinton a “hoe”, is a pill addict and a whole slue of other things. And this is the direction the Republican Party wants to do? Again – you guys are fucked.

And It Starts

As I said last night, the Democrats are now going to go after Limbaugh and let the public know he is the key speaker and representation of the GOP. Today it started with none other than Rahm Emanuel.

'Purveyor Of Hate Speech'

Old Willy Cunningham just can’t get a break, and rightfully so. For anyone that lives in the Cincinnati area, they know the name and know the hate this man spews. At times he is more over the edge than Hannity and Limbaugh combined. But old Willy finally admits what those others won’t – that his sole purpose in life is to get ratings and revenue:

"I said that Barack Obama's father acted the way a black father normally acts, which is quickly have a baby and leave. Which is factually accurate, and it's rather sad," Cunningham said. "My goal is to hurt no one and simply get ratings and revenue -- that's what I'm after. And I have 200,000 listeners because people understand it, and they get it."

The station Cunningham is on, 700 WLW, is one of the most powerful stations in the country. You can hear them all through Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. And their reach goes beyond that depending upon geographical conditions. I have actually been able to pick them up in Tennessee before with my car radio. So yes he has a lot of listeners, but look at the areas he has them in – nice and red. But if he wants to make his fame and fortune through hatred, so be it. He will find out the true price when he meets his maker.
