A True Democratic Candidate?

Misc

I must admit that I really didn’t know too much about Chris Dodd when he entered the race, and from what I did know, I had mixed feelings on. Lately he has taken the initiative on some really important actions in Senate. First he vowed to block the FISA bill because of the telecom immunity, […]

House Fails To Override SCHIP Veto – UPDATED

Misc

Final vote was 273-156. The sick Republicans were cheering when the override failed. Glad to see they find illness and death involving children as something to cheer for. 44 Republicans voted with Democrats and two Democrats crossed over. The most upsetting part of this is it shows that the “House of Representatives” doesn’t represent the […]

Talk About Being In The Minority

Misc

For years right wingers would taunt out the fact that Democrats were in the minority. That minority was very slim though. Both times Bush won the White House, it was so damn close. So these same wingnuts who so boldly reminded us of our minority status over the past several years now find themselves in […]

Republicans Blame Democrats For The Mass Exodus

Misc

So far nine House Republicans have announced they won’t seek re-election next year. Now we start hearing the excuses for them not running: Rep. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.), 61, one of those who announced he’s packing it in, said that the Democrats’ new five-day workweek made traveling back home that much more difficult. “I do think […]

Now FOX Needs Denounced

Misc

Glenn Greenwald has torn apart the smear attack against our troops, which was launched by FOX news analyst David Hunt. The entire thing deserves a good reading, because this is a far more brazen attack than any Move On ad. Hunt is targeting the generals, and as the resolutions passed by the House and Senate […]

Since The Senate Is About Condemning Now

Misc

Will they do the same for Republican Congressman and Giuliani adviser Peter King? A homeland security adviser to Rudy Giuliani came under fire Thursday for claiming there were “too many mosques” in the United States — and defended himself by saying his point was that not enough Muslim leaders cooperate with law enforcement. Rep. Peter […]

Fuck The Troops!

Misc

And let them die in Iraq! That should be the new slogan of the GOP. They did another filibuster on Boxer’s resolution condemning any ad against military people (past or present), yet the measure condemning MoveOn’s ad passed. Considering the GOP blocks any measure that would help the troops as a whole, or even give […]

Media Propaganda

Misc

Check out this headline from the AP: So what is that? Could it be troop cuts or defunding the war? NO! This article is about the Republicans filibustering Jim Webb’s amendment to give the troops as much time home as they are at war. Anti-war? Fuck you AP – this was a pro-troop bill. It […]

Do The Citizens Of Washington D.C. Deserve An Up or Down Vote?

Misc

I guess not: cloture vote in the Senate just moments ago on whether or not D.C. residents will get congressional representation ended up with 57 Ayes and 42 Nos, meaning Democrats and moderate Republicans weren’t able to find the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster organized by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. The citizens […]

Democrats Beat Bush Again

Misc

This time in demographics. On CNN Bush had 454,000 viewers, while the Democratic response had 507,000. On Fox (of all places), Bush had 745,000 as compared to 813,000 viewers for the Democrats. MSNBC was the only channel in which Bush did better (455,000 to 446,000). Sounds like America is turning off Bush more and more.
