The radical right has been trying to pin the church fires in Alabama on the left. Even Chris Matthews had his little go at it. Now it turns out they did it as a “joke”. This from the AP:

Three college students, including two aspiring actors known around campus as pranksters, were arrested Wednesday in a string of nine church fires that spread fear across Alabama last month.

Federal agents said the defendants claimed that the first few blazes were set as “a joke” and that the others were started to throw investigators off the track.

There you go. The right wing conspiracy theory is proven wrong. Of course the article says they were “aspiring actors” so now they will try to associate then to Hollywood.

Now will Chris Matthews appologize.
