Laura Bush was on Larry King last night (amazing – he had a night without Anna Nicole) and when asked about Iraq, she gave a very delusional answer:

She says that the “one bombing a day” is what is discouraging Americans from the war. Interesting she said that on a day there were two deadly bombings. It is also not just the “one bombing a day”, it is the troops we loose via IEDs, as well as our helicopters being shot down. It is also the massive contractor fraud that is happening in Iraq, which lacked any oversight with the Republican led Congress. Of course the fact that the American people were lied into this war makes us even less likely to support it. And let’s not forget how many times we have been lied to when it comes to the progress of the war; “The insurgency is in it’s last throes”, “We will be out in 2006”, “As they stand up we will stand down”. The list goes on.

Perhaps the First Lady should take the time to find out a little more about what is actually happening in Iraq for jumping to conclusions. Perhaps she should see what actual Americans are saying about the war instead of listening to the Republican talking points.
