Twitter and cable news is in a fury over a “bombshell” report by the Washington Post saying the Ivanka Trump used private email in official communications last year:

Ivanka Trump sent hundreds of emails last year to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants using a personal account, many of them in violation of federal records rules, according to people familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence.

Now this is breaking in the terms that Ivanka has been confirmed, but this was from last year? Interesting, because I remember this from September 2017:

Kushner uses his private account alongside his official White House email account, sometimes trading emails with senior White House officials, outside advisers and others about media coverage, event planning and other subjects, according to four people familiar with the correspondence. POLITICO has seen and verified about two dozen emails.

A week later Politico investigated further and found that the Kushner clan was using their own domain, ijkfamily.com:

Kushner set up the new personal domain in December, ijkfamily.com, as he was preparing to accept a senior adviser role in President Donald Trump’s administration. Ivanka Trump joined the administration in March but was corresponding with officials through a private email account before.

And while many outside of politics may have missed this story, it was noticed by some important people, like Elijah Cummings, who is set to take the gavel next year of the powerful Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, when he sent a letter on October 18, 2017 to the hosting company, demanding they retain all records. So this really isn’t new news, but rather an expansion on a year old story. What’s forgotten from that original story was all the people in the Trump White House using personal emails, including Steve Bannon, Gary Cohn and Reince Priebus. They sure loved chanting “lock her up!” about Hillary (and still do), yet they are all guilty of the same “crime” as Hillary. How’s that for irony?
