So here we go with another “foiled terror plot”. You can tell mid-terms are getting close. Anyways here is the rundown of headlines covering it:
- Britain says it foils “mass murder” plane bomb plot
- US raises air security alert to red for first time
- Airline plot involved liquid explosives
- Terror concerns seen pressuring markets
- BA grounds short-haul flights from Heathrow
I haven’t had time to go through it all yet, but I have a couple quick thoughts. First – I guess we still aren’t “fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here”. Also, isn’t it interesting how things like this seems to happen so much while Bush is on vacation? And finally. It is interesting how the words “terror alert” seem to only come out every even year. I guess the terrorists take the odd years off or to do actual attacks like in London last year.
After hearing everything about the group in Miami and their plans to attack the Sears Tower, it is hard to get too worked up over these. I am not saying this wasn’t a real threat, but the level of trust in our government has been diminished by their own actions (or inactions).
