When the Republicans pushed through the impeachment of Bill Clinton, they defended their actions with claims that he had “betrayed the trust in the American people”. In all honesty, it was their strongest argument.

Now there is an investigation into an alleged vindictive abuse of powers by Palin. If this story proves to be true, she put her family above the people of Alaska and that is something very serious. This would mean she would be entering office with a betrayal of trust the American people may not fully understand, simply because that betrayal happend so far away and outside of the MSM’s radar.

This goes back to the lack of accountability the Republican party has been plagued with for the last decade. Palin should be held accountable for any wrong actions, but then how does a small state legislature hold the vice-President accountable? That is the risk of having someone on the ticket under active investigation.
