It seems a lot of the right is gaga over Rick Perry and his entering the 2012 race. The media is working hard to talk him up and he will most likely become the front runner at a pretty rapid pace.

So what do we know about Rick Perry? Unless you live in Texas or follow politics really closely then the answer is not much. So let’s start off with some things Perry has done, especially this from Bob Cesca:

Texas, which crafts a budget every two years, was facing a $6.6 billion shortfall for its 2010-2011 fiscal years. It plugged nearly all of that deficit with $6.4 billion in Recovery Act money, allowing it to leave its $9.1 billion rainy day fund untouched.

“Stimulus was very helpful in getting them through the last few years,” said Brian Sigritz, director of state fiscal studies for the National Association of State Budget Officers, said of Texas.

Even as Perry requested the Recovery Act money, he railed against it. On the very same day he asked for the funds, he set up a petition titled “No Government Bailouts.”

“Join our fight and add your voice to a growing list of several thousand Americans who are fed up with this irresponsible spending that threatens our future,” Perry wrote on his blog on Feb. 18, 2009.

Yup – as Rick Perry was out there blasting the stimulus as a “waste of money” and even using it as an excuse to remove Texas from the union, he was sitting out there, with a big grin you would expect to find on a snake-oil salesman, hand opening, going “gimme, gimme!”. This guy is another one of those big hypocrites that is plaguing the Republican field.

And notice that almost $10 billion rainy day fund? Well apparently Perry hasn’t. That could be why he was requesting stimulus money to rebuild the Governor’s mansion in 2009. Apparently Perry is another one of those “it’s OK for me, but not for you” Republicans, like when he was demanding federal aid earlier this year when Texas was suffering from wild fires.

Then there is also the Rick Perry who constantly yelled that the federal government had no right to tell his state what to do, but interesting enough Rick thinks he has a right to tell the federal government want to do. That’s what happened when Rick was out there talking about secession while begging for more federal agents to come in and deal with immigration.

Here’s a question for you. How would Texas survive on their own, given all the aide Rick Perry has taken and asked for from the federal government? And given that, how does he expect to run our nation?

Not even Rick Perry can answer that and that shows us that Perry would be a disaster for this nation. If you still aren’t sold, let’s look at who already endorsed him:

Former senator and current banker Phil Gramm of Texas — well-connected to big donors but controversial for his role in preventing tighter regulation of Wall Street — told The Huffington Post yesterday that he is endorsing his former student and political protege, Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

The endorsement is not a surprise, but it is a mixed blessing.

“I’m for Rick and I will do what I can to help,” Gramm said in an interview in Detroit. “He has been an effective governor. He is a determined guy from a small town who knows how to get things done.”

Gramm is a long time friend and mentor to Perry. This is the very same Phil Gram that while serving as John McCain’s economic adviser in 2008 called the U.S. a nation of whiners for them talking about the recession, which he also referred to as a “mental recession”. Of course many on the right will buy into that since they believe our economic problems magically started on January 20, 2009.

So there you have a start of items we can use against Rick Perry. This guy is so shady that he makes Tom Delay look like a prince. If you want to hurry up the China take over of our country, go ahead and punch your card for Perry. This guy is a bigger joke than the last President we had that came from Texas.
