About 10 miles from my house there is a big landmark that has been seen in such movies as Religulous and Alexandra Pelosi’s Friends of God. Well after massive storms moved through the area tonight, that status is no more:

The famous King of Kings statue at the Solid Rock Church in Monroe has been destroyed by a fire.

The 62-foot tall statue of Jesus constructed out of styrofoam, wood and fiberglass resin caught on fire during the severe thunderstorms Monday evening.

The only thing left of the 16,000 pound statue is the metal frame.

They believe the fire was caused by a lightning strike, though it is still under investigation.
