Yesterday news broke of federal agents raiding a militia group based out of Michigan, but also spreading to Indiana and Ohio:

At least seven people, including some from Michigan, have been arrested in raids by a FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana as part of an investigation into an Adrian-based Christian militia group, a person familiar with the matter said.

The suspects are expected to make an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Detroit on Monday.

On Sunday, a source close to the investigation in Washington, D.C. confirmed that FBI agents were conducting activities in Washtenaw and Lenawee counties over the weekend in connection to Hutaree, a Christian militia group. Detroit FBI Special Agent Sandra Berchtold told The Detroit News the federal warrants in the case are under court seal and declined further comment.

Needless to say some on the right tried veil attempts at question this, like Dan Riehl:

Just three days ago, members of the group were assisting LE in a rescue search. Must be some really evil people there, what?

But after a week of reports that the right has been promoting violence, wouldn’t it have made sense for these people to hold off on judgment a little bit longer? Here’s what the charges are:

The Hutaree members allegedly “planned to kill an unidentified member of local law enforcement and then attack the law enforcement officers who gather in Michigan for the funeral. According to the plan, the Hutaree would attack law enforcement vehicles during the funeral procession with Improvised Explosive Devices with Explosively Formed Projectiles, which, according to the indictment, constitute weapons of mass destruction.”

Now we get a very serious threat against cops thwarted and it’s a bad thing? Seriously – these people need to rethink their whole position on America. Also DHS needs to seriously revisit that report on right wing extermists and put it back out, with a big dose of STFU to people like Michelle Malkin and Joe Scarborough, the ones who called it a “political hit job”.
