Well I guess we are proving more and more that we are in a
holy war. At least that is the perception given by Republican Representative
Thomas G Tancredo of Colorado.

In an interview on a Florida radio station, the Congressman
said that if we experience a multi city attack then we could respond by taking
out Mecca, the Israel of the Muslim world. This is a proving that we are
considering this as a holy war and not a war of liberation as once stated.

So what could the ramifications of such a comment be? The
Congressman admitted he was just thinking out loud, giving ideas of what could
happen. Well, when the debate of detainee abuse was at an all time high, the
right claimed that the left’s comparison of our facilities to soviet run gulags
was hurting our soldiers. As matter of fact, they said that Al Jazeera was
playing these comments on their airwaves to promote hate against us. So doesn’t
this comment risk the same implications? It sure does.

Now people may be saying that “Well it was a little radio
interview, they will never hear it”. That could not be further from the truth.
As matter of fact, the story has already hit the
Daily Times of Pakistan. This
means that this Congressman’s act of “thinking out loud” is already known in the
Middle East.

The domino effect this could cause is scary. This could now
result in attacks on Israel and even mobilize more Muslims Damage control needs
to be done and it needs to be done yesterday. The Democrats need to go after
this Congressman for his blinded comments he made and pulling this war closer to
being a holy war.
