The east seems to be the hot topic in the news today. Not only did Russian
President Putin issue a statement calling for a timetable for the withdrawal of
troops from Iraq, but a high ranking Kremlin official also said we must
recognize Iran’s nuclear ambitions to

generate power
.

“Russia believes it is appropriate for the international community to
recognize Iran’s right to continue its nuclear programs, since that would
solve the current crisis and save unnecessary problems.”

This could add problems to the United States motives if it is taken before
the United Nations Security Council. Russia is a permanent member of the
Security Council, and there for holds a veto.

This news came out the same day that Russia and China were involved in one of
the largest joint military exercise in history. The exercise will go on for
eight days and involves training exercises on land, sea, and air. It is meant to
send a message to the
United States:

“The main target is the US. Both sides want to improve their position for
bargaining in terms of security, politics and economics”

That statement was made by Jin Canrong, a professor of international
relations at the People’s University of China.

This are all very troubling signs. We don’t live in the same America we did
before 9/11. While the attacks themselves changed America, George Bush has done
more to change it. He is trying to push America into being a global empire, and
the world is responding to his threats.

With our military staffing running low and our resources tied up in
Afghanistan, and the unnecessary war of Iraq, our country is now vulnerable.
George Bush has destroyed our diplomatic standing in the world with his actions,
and they will not get any better with John Bolton at the helm.

God help us all if we don’t get an administration who respects other nations
rather than intimidates them.
