So I wake up, do my morning check of news media and blogs. I come to one of
my favorite sites,
Think Progress, and see a quote from Rep. Bill Young which appears in
today’s
Washington Post:
Young said he wouldn’t be so mad if it were just Sheehan. “I totally
disagree with everything she stands for,” he said. But by removing his wife,
Gainer’s officers clearly “acted precipitously,” Young said
Rep. Young, you took an oath to uphold the constitution. Where the hell does
it say in there that rules and laws should only apply to those whose views
oppose yours? Granted, it turns out no laws or rules were broken by your wife or
Cindy, but the Capital Police got one thing right – they removed both people.
They didn’t exercise partisanship in that decision. The difference in treatment
between the two is a different story however. Your wife didn’t get arrested and
manhandled by the police, even after she stood up on the floor of the House and
shouted “Shame Shame”. Cindy did and the witness accounts of that pretty much
says they had no reason to treat her in such a manner.
So now we see how the Republican party, the party of corruption, feels about
the law. It should only apply to the ones who have opposing views. Bill Young
doesn’t even deserve to be called a Representative because I am sure a majority
of who he represents do not share this view. True, a comment like his is
something Cindy’s lawyers will love to use in the upcoming lawsuit.
