Looks like Iran is up for a fight:

A defiant Iran has warned it is capable of inflicting “harm and pain” if action is taken to prevent their nuclear programme.

The United States warned Iran to expect “consequences” from the United Nations if it failed to halt nuclear research.

Tehran has vowed to continue with the programme regardless of the actions of the international community.

In a statement the Iranian Government said: “The United States may have the power to cause harm and pain but it is also susceptible to harm and pain. So if the United States wishes to choose that path, let the ball roll.”

In a statement Washington said “the time has now come for the [UN Security] Council to act”.

Iran, the world’s fourth biggest oil exporter, defied an International Atomic Energy Agency board resolution last month to suspend all nuclear fuel enrichment activity.

The Security Council is expected to meet on Iran’s nuclear programme as early as next week, a senior European Union diplomat said.

Iran has accused Washington of helping to engineer an IAEA board vote a month ago to report Tehran’s atomic project to the Security Council.
