OK sitting here thinking about the revelation today of Bush authorizing the leak I have come up with something.

Back when it was being reported that Cheney authorized the leak, one argument was regarding the declassification of information and if the vice-president has that power. It is clear that the President does in fact have the power to do that but it is unclear rather the vice-president can do it or not.

Perhaps knowing this is part of the reason why Fitzgerald never did charge anyone with outting a CIA agent or disclosing classified information. Now if this is the case, there is another angle to consider – did the President of the United States commit treason?

We know that Valerie Plame was working on WMD. We also know that she was focusing on Iran and their nuclear issue. First off we are currently in a war with Iraq over a claim of WMD. Secondly, we are facing increased tensions with Iran over WMD. With that said then I believe it is a question Congress should take a serious look at.
