I have been working for the last couple of months on getting IntoxiNation 3.0 out. The new system will be a total overhaul and allow for much more of a “community”. Since I am working on this change, I have disabled user registrations and the forums until everything is ready to go.

My goal for IntoxiNation has always been to make it a community. One person can not be a nation, but a bunch of us together can. Having said that, the goal of IntoxiNation 3.0 is to become more of a “liberal social networking site”. The site will become not only a blog, but a full featured community. Members will get their own blog when they registered and the forums will become an integrated part of the system (unlike our current system where separate registration was required for both). There are also other features that will separate IntoxiNation from the rest, but I want to leave those as a surprise.

Of course this change means the site will no longer be powered by WordPress. Instead I am moving it to Drupal (to my WordPress friends, don’t worry. I am not abandoning the great blogging platform. I am also starting up a tech blog which will be powered by WordPress). Drupal is geared more towards a “community” based system and I have been able to modify it to do exactly what I want. This will be the most exciting change IntoxiNation has undergone to date.

My goal is to make this move in the next 2-3 weeks. When the move happens, IntoxiNation will go offline for about an hour. You will know it is done because the site will look totally different. Just a hint – it is all about Web 2.0.
