According to former Reagan official Paul Craig Roberts, that is exactly where this country is at now.

Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.

Bush has put in place all the necessary measures for dictatorship in the form of “executive orders” that are triggered whenever Bush declares a national emergency. Recent statements by Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, former Republican senator Rick Santorum and others suggest that Americans might expect a series of staged, or false flag, “terrorist” events in the near future.

Many attentive people believe that the reason the Bush administration will not bow to expert advice and public opinion and begin withdrawing US troops from Iraq is that the administration intends to rescue its unpopular position with false flag operations that can be used to expand the war to Iran.

Robert’s article came out on July 16. On July 17th, Bush signed a new Executive Order. Raw Story gives us this synopsis:

Thom Hartmann began his program on Thursday by reading from a new Executive Order which allows the government to seize the assets of anyone who interferes with its Iraq policies.

This Executive Order, if followed with the spirit of the Constitution could be used to seize the assets of countries like Iran. The problem with that is the fact Bush doesn’t follow the spirit of the Constitution. This has been made evident time and time again with things like domestic surveillance. So that means our government can now seize the assets of anyone who speaks out against the war.

The media needs to start talking about this new order and pressure must be put onto Congress to immediately suspend all other business and start articles of impeachment. I don’t care if you are a Republican or Democrat, if you love this country and what it has stood for then you must support removing the President who is destroying it. Crimes against the Constitution are high crimes, and that is exactly what this is. If Congress does not act to remove Bush and Cheney then they are complicit in these crimes.
