If anyone is protected by the media, it certainly is John McCain. When the New York Times published their article a couple of weeks ago, the media circled the wagons around their hero. Instead they focused on dismissing the non-story in the article, McCain having an affair, which wasn’t actually implied. There was still a lot of facts in the article that shows McCain does have a cozy relationship with lobbyists.

Think Progress has done a flashback to some older articles that show the NYT story actually had a lot of fact in it. Why couldn’t the media do that when the story first broke?
