Last night an article popped up on The Drudge Report “Street Mob Of 10 Teens Brutally Attacks Man Walking Home From Work In Baltimore… ” The article, which was originally posted on Friday, saw over 1,500 comments following the Drudge push, which happened around 8pm edt last night. Six hours later, the article is up to over 3,400 comments, including some like this:

Then this morning, at around 6:45 am edt, Drudge popped up another story, “Texas Rangers Pitcher Attacked By Group Of Young Males On Cleveland Street…”.

Here’s what that article has to say:

Texas Rangers pitcher Tanner Scheppers sustained facial bruises after he said he was ”sucker-punched” while walking in downtown Cleveland this week.

[SNIP]

Scheppers had cuts above his nose and bruising around his left eyes when he spoke to reporters prior to Saturday night’s game against the Indians.

The reliever said he was going out to dinner a few blocks from the team’s hotel after the Rangers arrived in Cleveland on Thursday night following their afternoon game in Texas.

Scheppers said he was ”sucker-punched by several young males” and knocked to the sidewalk, but never lost consciousness. Scheppers said he wasn’t robbed and that his attackers ran away.

The same response happened as in the Baltimore article, racist comments started popping up left and right:

But apparently the race baiting, idiotic followers of Drudge can’t even bother to read. Here’s what appears in that article:

Notice that “UPDATE” right after the second paragraph? Well here it is:

The Texas Rangers say they’re investigating a claim by pitcher Tanner Scheppers that he was attacked in downtown Cleveland last week.

Scheppers said he was “sucker-punched by several young males” while going out to dinner a few blocks from the team’s hotel Thursday night. He sustained facial cuts and bruises, and said his attackers ran away.

Cleveland-based entertainment website Scene reported Sunday that Scheppers verbally instigated the incident — which apparently happened overnight at a bar, and not around dinnertime. The website cited a witness without giving the person’s name.

“He lost a bar fight. He had 10 chances to walk away before this happened,” the witness told the website.

The Cleveland Police Department confirmed Sunday that Scheppers was involved in a physical altercation at Panini’s Bar at 2:30 a.m. Friday. The statement said Scheppers “refused to provide information and refused to make a police report.”

So Scheppers totally lied about what happened, most likely to hide the fact he was in a bar fight. So we can expect Drudge to keep pushing this story, right?

The article magically disappears from the Drudge machine. Going by Drudge archives, he dropped the story around 9:11 am edt this morning.

So why did Drudge drop this story? To me the update to this story is even bigger news, something a big headline pusher like Matt Drudge should jump on. Here we have a Major League Baseball player lying about what happened, for whatever reasons. Now his team is investigating and MLB is getting involved.

But any angle of race has been removed from this story, just like the headline from Matt Drudge. So it now appears that Matt Drudge is only interested in stories that can garner racism, involving black on white hate.

This country is starting to reach a boiling point with racism again, and when it boils over we have people like Matt Drudge to think about that. Perhaps it’s time that the media stop citing him as a reliable news source.
