First I will start in the west where another recall has occurred:

SPOKANE, Wash. – Mayor James E. West was recalled from office Tuesday in
a special election over allegations he offered jobs and perks to young men
he met in a gay Internet chat room.

West, 54, must leave his position when the election results are certified
Dec. 16.

With just over half of the 110,000 mail-in ballots counted, 38,718, or 65
percent, voted to recall West, while 20,681, or 35 percent, voted to retain
him.

“I said I’d abide by the will of the voters, obviously, and they’ve
spoken,” West told The Associated Press. “I’m at peace with their decision
and disappointed.”

Before becoming mayor, West was a Republican in the state legislation where
he worked hard against pro-gay bills.

Now to the east where another former Bush campaign official is facing
conspiracy charges:

CONCORD, N.H. – A former national Republican Party official played a key
role in an Election Day 2002 phone jamming plot against New Hampshire
Democrats, the prosecution said Tuesday during opening statements.

James Tobin, President Bush’s onetime New England campaign chairman, is
being tried on one federal count of conspiring against voters’ rights and
several counts involving telephone harassment. He could face up to 10 years
in prison if convicted.

U.S. Attorney Andrew Levchuk said the state GOP’s former executive
director, Chuck McGee, had Tobin’s blessing for the scheme as well as his
help in the plot to disrupt Democratic get-out-the-vote phone banks and a
nonpartisan ride-to-the-polls line.

Tobin, 45, resigned as New England chairman of Bush’s 2004 campaign in
October 2004 when the phone jamming accusations became public. Tobin also
has been political director of the Republican National Committee.

There is no doubt that we are living in an age of corruption. Politicians are
getting arrested, indicted or investigated every week now. Ironically a majority
of them come from the Republican party and it has only started. As the Abramoff
investigation continues we will most likely see many more officials get
indicted. Even John McCain predicted that this past weekend.

This abundance of corruption is a harsh indicator of a need for some sort of
recall system on a national level. We need something powerful to hold over the
heads of our elected leaders. A recall amendment to the constitution would send
a clear and precise message – Do your job or we will replace you. It is the best
start for Americans to take back their country,
