As I go through trying to fine tune everything I have noticed a couple small problems with the site.

First off there was a couple days where it was slow loading. This was actually a problem with the hosting company. Thankfully they were quick to remedy the situation. It took a couple days because I was going through making certain it was nothing on my end causing it.

The news items that appeared on the front page (the ones in the box) are no longer there. Well they are but, as you may have noticed, they are now on the top in the “Latest News” section. For those who have visited IntoxiNation for awhile you may remember the hold scrolling headlines I had on the sidebar. Well I have eliminated that. It was nice but caused for a small hangup while it loaded. It also crashed dependent upon what was coming out of news feeds and their was always things we may not have been that concerned about.

The new “Latest News” section is totally controlled by us. Throughout the day as we find articles of interest we will post them there along with one or two sentences about the article. The headline will take you to the actual article and if there are more than one articles about the same subject that are interesting, we will place a link to the other article(s) within that short description. Of course you can comment on the articles here via the comment link.

To view previous News Items, simply click on the News Item category on the left or go to the archive to that date. One small warning. The sites that host the articles don’t always keep them up that long. Some only do so for two weeks so the article link may not work after a certain amount of time.

I did some transparent redesign to the template to help with layout and loading. The right side sidebar pulls most of its information from other sites so that would result in a delay while loading and make the screen jump. This was even worse in Firefox (I use Maxthon which is IE so I didn’t notice it until I loaded up Firefox today). I have corrected that problem as well. There may be some small jumps in the ads but nothing as annoying as there was in the past. This is actually a problem in Firefox 1.0.7. Numerous other sites have also reported on it.

If for some reason the site looks funky right now try hitting refresh and that should clear it up. If anyone notices any other problems then please feel free to let me know.

I would also like to announce some personnel changes. Now that we have done all the testing on the system, Tim is now one of the editors of the site. This was always the plan but I had him set as an author during the testing just so he could help find any hidden problems.

Today we had a new author join the team. He goes by the name of Skajules and will bring great discussion to the site. I have been acquainted with him for quiet some time through other political forums and would like to take this chance to welcome him to the team. Anyone else interested in writing for IntoxiNation please take a moment and fill out the very short application located under the information sub-menu (select contact us) on the top menu bar.
