Did we read that headline or hear that argument back when Lieberman endorsed McCain? No. But now we got all these right wingers out there claiming that Powell endorsed Obama simply because of race.

I find it really insulting to Powell to claim he would put the color of his skin ahead of the country, but that’s exactly what racists like Pat Buchanan and George Will are saying. Of course pointing out the racist tone of their comments will lead to a massive outcry from the right, but if the headline read like mine a few months ago wouldn’t they be making the same claims?
