Our Infrastructure Is A Mess

Of course the right will jump on this and say that “oh yeah -the looney left thinks Bush did something to make that bridge collapse”. Well they are right and he has. He has ignored our nation’s infrastructure during his entire presidency and now that neglect is becoming obvious. Harry Reid even gets it on this one:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, said Thursday that the Minneapolis bridge collapse should be a “wake-up call” for the country.

“We have all over the country crumbling infrastructure — highways, bridges, dams — and we really need to take a hard look at this,” said Reid.

In addition to being the “right thing to do,” Reid also said that repairing infrastructure was “good for America.” “For every billion dollars we spend in our crumbling infrastructure, 47,000 high-paying jobs are created,” added Reid.

Our side has been warning about this for all too long, yet when the Democrats try to address the problems the Republicans say “there they go spending again”. I am sure the families of loved ones lost from this tragedy wish we would have invested more into our infrastructure. I also wonder how many bridges, dams, levies and other needed items could have been replaced or repaired with the money we have spent in Iraq.
