Adam R. Shepherd died in Iraq on January 17 of an unknown illness. I do not
know Adam, however his cousin is a family friend.

During Adam’s funeral this weekend in Cincinnati, a protestor from Fred
Phelps (godhatesfags.com) showed up
with her children and was carrying a sign saying “God is glad your dead”.
Cincinnati police arrested the protestor. At this time I have been unable to
ascertain the charges the protestor is facing.

This practice is the norm for Phelps followers. They have shown up at
soldier’s funerals around the country carrying these offensive signs and
protesting. Currently Indiana is working on a law to make this activity illegal.
Hopefully other states will follow suit, as it is a disgrace to the soldier and
their family.

Some people try to coin Phelps as a “peace activist”. That is not the case.
In fact, his group follows no set political philosophy. They are not Democrat
nor Republican. They have their own set of standards that rivals that of a cult.
Their actions are also a disgrace to anyone regardless of their political
beliefs.
